Manba is a compact Hyogo Prefecture resort with a solid mix of beginner and advanced terrain, anchored by three pair lifts and consistent snow-making. The mountain rides well for its size, though it's small and can feel busy on weekends.

How it rides

Manba sits in the Kannabe Kogen region of northern Hyogo, a modest operation with three pair lifts serving terrain that splits evenly between mellow runs and steeper pitches. The base sits at 350m with a vertical of 460m—not huge, but enough to feel like a real mountain when snow is good. Snowmaking has been in place since 2020, so the season runs reliably from late December through mid-March, and the resort opens daily from 8:30am to 4:45pm with no night skiing.

The riding experience is straightforward: beginner and intermediate terrain makes up 60% of the mountain, leaving 40% for steeper lines and ungroomed sections like the Triangle C course at the top. The steepest pitches hit 30 degrees, which is respectable for a small resort. A kids' area with a snow escalator sits at the base, and lessons and rentals are available if you need them. The 2000m longest run gives you decent continuous riding when conditions allow.

Until 2024, Manba was connected at the top with neighboring Oku Kannabe via a shared lift, but that connection is no longer operating this season. The resort requires either a valid lift ticket or an entry charge to access the mountain. It's a straightforward, no-frills operation—good for a day trip from the Kobe or Osaka area, but don't expect much in the way of après-ski or village atmosphere.
