Riverwell Ikawa sits in a remote location about 50km north of Shizuoka City, offering a single 300m run on 100% beginner terrain. The mountain is accessed via a belt conveyor moving walkway instead of a conventional ski lift, which sets it apart as an unusual setup in Japan's ski landscape. On clear days, riders can take in panoramic views of the surrounding mountains, including the South Alps and Mt Fuji.<br><br>The area operates a short sledging zone as well, making it more of a family destination than a serious riding spot. With virtually no vertical gain, no intermediate or advanced terrain, and limited facilities including no on-site ski or snowboard school, Riverwell Ikawa functions primarily as a novelty experience or a place for young children to learn basics. It's one of only two ski areas in Shizuoka Prefecture and typically opens in early January, closing by mid-March.
